Me & Mine: A family portrait project // January 2015

How many photos have you taken of your little ones over the past year? Thousands upon thousands I expect, yet how many of those photos do you all feature in? Not so many?

Welcome to my world.

I have a handful of photos of us all as a family and I think its a sorry state of affairs. So inspired by this great article I read on the Huffington Post, The Mom stays in the picture, I have decided to take action and take part in the Me & Mine: A family portrait project. For those of you who don’t know what it is, it is a lovely link up idea by Lucy of Dear Beautiful. She decided to challenge herself to take a family photo every single month; a photo which you can treasure for years to come and I think it’s a wonderful idea.

These photos were taken on Andy’s birthday at Dunham Massey, a National Trust property near us. It was a gorgeous day; cold and frosty but with clear blue skies and the sunshine was beautifully golden. My dad took these photos and I’m really pleased with them. They are a lovely reminder of a wonderful day with my family and our first family photos of 2015.

I’ve blogged more photos of our morning at Dunham Massey here, as the light was too gorgeous not to snap away.

January has been a fun little month. Thanks to the snow, we’ve done a fair bit of sledging and snowman building, we’ve celebrated birthdays (Andy’s and my dads), played on the beach opposite my grandparents house in Blundellsands (it was rather bracing!), and had LOTS of playdates. I’ve kickstarted my fitness campaign with bi-weekly PT sessions and weekly netball matches, Andy has eased himself back into work after the festive period, Jack had his first ‘big boy’ swimming lession (he hated not having me in the water with him, cried a lot and we haven’t been back since!) and Phoebs is babbling away non stop.

I’m really looking forward to fulfilling this photography project and having at least 12 photos of my little family over the coming year, rather than the handful we normally manage. In addition, I am also hoping to invest in professional photos of our family over the coming year aswell (funds permitting!), to ensure we have some amazing candid photos to treasure, like these ones of Andy, Jack and I when Jack was a baby.
